Gunpowder tea is named for its similiarity to the gunpowder used on 18th century
British warships. When fully steeped, the tightly rolled green leaves unfurl to
reveal their deep, rich flavor. This unique tea is a favorite worldwide. Chinese
gunpowder green tea is smooth and flavorful when prepared properly. As with all
green teas, proper water temperature is essential for bringing out the true essence
of the leaf. Generally, water temperatures should not exceed 180 degrees
Fahrenheit. Steep for no more than 2 - 3 minutes to keep from becoming bitter
and astringent.
